From nose to tail, bones to belly, we’re proud to offer both soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries right here in Norman. Orthopedic Surgery for Norman Pets

Orthopedic issues—such as limping, trouble getting up, or avoiding stairs—can seriously impact your pet’s quality of life. We specialize in diagnosing and treating conditions that affect your pet’s bones, joints, ligaments, and muscles. Our goal? Restoring mobility, relieving pain, and getting your pet back to doing what they love.

We offer a variety of orthopedic surgeries, including:

  • Tibial Tuberosity Advancement (TTA) for cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) injuries

  • RidgeStop® procedure for luxating patellas (dislocating kneecaps)

  • Fracture repair

  • Surgical therapies for hip dysplasia and other joint conditions

  • Post-operative rehabilitation to support a strong recovery

TTA: Our Preferred Fix for Cruciate Tears

If your dog has torn their cranial cruciate ligament (similar to an ACL in people), TTA surgery changes the way the knee works to restore function. It’s less invasive than other options, uses titanium implants, and has a faster recovery timeline. Most dogs are back on their feet within 1–3 weeks—and back to full activity not long after.

RidgeStop®: A Better Way to Treat Patellar Luxation

If your pet’s kneecap (patella) frequently “pops out of place,” the RidgeStop system may be the ideal solution. This procedure involves placing a medical-grade implant that acts as a new ridge to keep the kneecap where it belongs—without needing to deepen the bone groove.

We’re proud to be the only practice in the area offering RidgeStop, which allows for quicker healing, less bone disruption, and a better outcome for your pet.

Soft Tissue Surgery for Cats & Dogs

We perform a wide variety of soft tissue surgeries, ranging from everyday procedures to advanced care for complex issues. These surgeries involve organs, skin, and other tissues—and they often make a huge difference in your pet’s comfort and quality of life.

Procedures include:

  • Spays & neuters

  • Tumor/mass removals

  • Abdominal and bladder surgery

  • Foreign body removal

  • Nares surgery (we do a lot of these!) to open up restricted nostrils and improve airflow

Your pet’s comfort is our top priority. We use pre-anesthetic bloodwork and urine testing to assess your pet’s overall health before surgery and monitor them closely throughout the entire procedure. Post-op pain management is tailored to your pet’s needs so they can heal with minimal discomfort.

Laser Surgery for Pets

Dr. Emmert has been performing laser surgery since 2003—one of the most advanced, least invasive surgical options available. Laser surgery offers:

  • Less bleeding and swelling

  • Reduced post-op pain

  • Smaller incisions and quicker recovery

  • A cleaner, more precise procedure

We’re also able to pair the laser with a video otoscope, allowing us to perform delicate surgeries in difficult areas, like the ears and mouth—a game-changer for chronic ear infections, oral masses, and more.
