Trusted, Quality Care for Over 50 Years
McGee Street Animal Hospital provides a full range of veterinary services to meet your pet’s health and wellness needs. Throughout the years, as our practice has grown, we have expanded our facilities and capabilities. Today, we are proud to offer patients and clients from the Norman area with a comprehensive set of services including physical rehabilitation, orthopedic surgeries, and general veterinary care. We truly care about your pet’s health and wellbeing, and are committed to helping them live a full, happy, and healthy life.
Our veterinarians, technicians and support staff utilize the most advanced technology and techniques to ensure your pet receives the best care available. We work with each pet owner to develop a custom treatment plan for their pet, to help each patient achieve and maintain their best health.
Our veterinary services include:
We recommend bringing your pet in at least once a year — in most instances twice yearly — for a wellness exam. Dogs and cats age faster than people. For every 1 year of our lives, a dog or cat will age 7 to 9 years. At the time of the comprehensive wellness exam, our team will discuss your pet’s health status and recommend a plan tailored to your pet’s health care needs.
Our doctors work hard to diagnose and treat internal medicine problems. With great attention to detail, we can manage all types of diseases and injuries, including heart disease, kidney and liver disease, urinary tract infections, anemia, and more.
Since 2003, we have provided a wide range of laser surgeries. Dr. Emmert’s education and experience combined with the benefits of the laser gives your pets many advantages for surgery.
These include less pain and swelling, less bleeding, and a cleaner surgical environment. We are also able to combine our laser with a video scope allowing us to perform surgery in more difficult areas, such as the ear and mouth.
Soft Tissue Surgery
Soft tissue surgery are procedures not related to bones or joints. This includes spaying and neutering, abdominal surgeries, tumor removal, and more. During all surgical procedures, we work to make sure you pet is comfortable, before, during, and after their surgery. We will work with you to make sure they receive the care, attention, and recovery they deserve.
As your pet ages, their healthcare needs change. Together with you, we will develop a comprehensive wellness plan to help guide your faithful companion through their “golden years.” We will work to identify any health problems in the early stages so preventive health care measures can be implemented. It is our goal to help your pets live happily and healthily no matter what stage of life they are in.
Healthy teeth and gums can help prolong your pet’s life. Our dental services are designed to help keep your pet healthy and their teeth clean and pain free. We provide in-depth cleaning and evaluations for periodontal disease, which can help to maintain their dental health.
Digital radiology is the best method for x-rays on the market. It uses less radiation, decreases exposure, and provides us with greater detailed images. We use x-rays to evaluate the cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal, reproductive, and urinary systems in your pets.
Full In-House Laboratory
Our full, on-site laboratory features the latest equipment and technology to provide us with fast, accurate results. The tests we perform can help us identify toxins, infectious agents, or many other causes of disease. This allows us to give your pet immediate care and treatments.
We provide full service grooming for both dogs and cats. Each groom includes a haircut, bath, manicure and pedicure, anal glands expressed, and ear clean. Additional services like painting a pet’s nails or fun things like airbrushing can be provided also!
Boarding With A Large Yard
We have a climate controlled boarding facility with regular and large sized runs. Dogs are let outside to play multiple times each day in our privacy fenced-in backyard. All cats that stay with us have a “room with a view” overlooking the outside courtyard! Dogs must be current on their Rabies and Bordatella vaccines and Cats must be current on their Rabies vaccine. (Proof will be required if not administered at our hospital).
Nutritional Counseling And Holistic Diets
We carry only the best diets for your pets. We exclusively offer Orijen, Acana, Natura pet foods including EVO and California Natural and Precise Holistic. These foods offer whole food ingredients with no fillers, by products or artificial preservatives. Prescription diets are also available from Royal Canin and Hill’s Science Diet.
Did you know that our veterinarians also treat Rabbits, Hamsters, Mice, Rats, Guinea Pigs, Ferrets, and other Pocket Pets? We also treat turtles, non-venomous snakes, geckos, lizards, and other reptiles! Make an appointment for the “other” members of your family to be seen.
